Former President of Pakistan Pervaiz Musharraf has revealed the “Grand Alliance” of 23 Political Parties. This coalition will function under the aegis of the Pakistan Awami Itehad (PAI). The Former President will head this Coalition and Iqbal Dar has been selected as the Secretary General of this Grand Alliance.
Musharraf announced Grand Alliance
Addressing a conference Musharraf has announced “Grand Alliance” and dismissed the gossips that he had desired to lead the MQM. He asserted that no truth lies in rumors that he would want to be the head of a “minor, ethnic party.”
Former President said that the MQM Pakistan is only showing the half agenda of Party, and also insisted that he was concerned about the rifts and internal problems of the party. He doesn’t have any intentions to replace the Leaders like Farooq Sattar or Mustafa Kamal of the MQM Party.
He said in statement, ” MQM-Pakistan is merely half of what the [original] party used to be," he said. "I am concerned about [the internal problems] of the party; however, I have no interest in replacing Farooq Sattar or Mustafa Kamal even if their parties are united.”
Addressing the press conference he criticized the Muahjir Community and MQM party and said that both have lost their respects. And invited the party and Muhajir community to end the ethnic Politics at all and join the “Grand Alliance” (PAI). He also suggested that the Alliance between MQM and PSP Party could not live longer due to lack of proper leadership, but the alliance of both parties is better.
Former President wished that the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid leader would also join hands with grand alliance. Musharraf also recommend the Imran Khan to join the Grand Alliance as well. He said in a statement ”join hands with a group that would take Pakistan forward.”
The central office of the Grand Alliance is in Islamabad.
Musharraf showed gratitude to Alliance for Chosen him as the Chairman and said that he will return soon. He added that he will come in Pakistan in “appropriate time” that the chaos will not create and “development work will not disturb.”
Former President was charged with treason last year by the Special court and declared as absconder in last August in Bhutto murder case. He said that he was ready to face the court, ” The accountability process should not be affected by my arrival [to Pakistan].”
